Prayer Shawl Ministry
"This Prayer Shawl is a gift from the people of Presbyterian Church of the Master. It was started with a prayer and many prayers and blessings were knit or crocheted into the fabric. When it was finished, we gathered in a circle and passed it from and to hand to bless it. May you feel comfort and hope as you wear this. May it encircle you in God's love and peace, now and always."
A card with this message is enclosed with each shawl PCM's Prayer Shawl Ministry gives to recipients.
This ministry, started in 2009, is the vision of former member Cathy Schrauger. It provides shawls, lap robes and scarves for congregation members or friends in the community enduring illness or hard times. In 2010, the ministry began welcoming newly baptized children into PCM's faith community with blankets, symbolic of God's love and care wrapping around them.
The ministry has provided over 60 shawls to the PCM family. Many recipients have shared how much the shawls mean to them, and the comfort they provide.
Knitters and crocheters of all experience levels are welcome; often more experienced crafters are available to help a beginner.
The Prayer Shawl group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Fishbowl at 6:30 PM. When coming to the meetings, enter the building via the door by the church office. Feel free to pop-in, visit, and see if this is for you! Can't come to a monthly meeting? That's OK! Some crafters create shawls at home and only occasionally attend meetings.
